During the life of the project the community will share in the benefits both indirectly through boosting the local economy but also directly through funding local initiatives. The project is committed to a yearly community development program throughout its 30-year operation life.
To date, the Lakeland Wind Farm community development program has assisted local organisations with funding for projects including:
– The Lakeland Progress Association used the Windlab funding to erect a community notice board to enable the advertising of community events or news. (Pictured Right)
– The Lakeland First Responders and SES purchased battery powered portable lighting to assist emergency landing of aircraft within their area of operations. These are used not only for planes landing at airstrips but also helicopters landing in paddocks and will replace flares that were previously used.
